2024 GUIDELINES

Submissions Open For 2024

All 2024 submissions must be made via our Submittable page. We are seeking 1-3 polished poems or art of any style of less than 5 pages (12 font Times New Roman, single spaced). Your name must appear on the work. Include a title page with list of work titles. Please provide a brief bio in third person. Please allow about one to two months for a response. We are usually pretty quick in response. All work must be contained in one document. Each new poem or art piece should start on a new page. Due to our large amount of submissions, we cannot respond or provide feedback to everyone. We do our best to be prompt. ​We acquire first North American serial rights upon acceptance. This includes the right to publish your material on our website as well as a possible future print edition, with permission. The author retains all rights of their work of course. Art work should be JPEG.

We are excited to announce we are running the Tofu Ink Arts Press Chapbook Competition for 2025-2026 for an unpublished chapbook of 20 pages of poems. The contest is open to new, emerging, and established writers. The winner will receive book publication, and 10 copies of the printed book and it will appear as an E Reader as well. Our chapbooks are perfect-bound, feature striking cover designs, each receive an ISBN, and are distributed internationally through Amazon as well as on our website.  If any royalties they will be split 50/50 between Tofu Ink Arts Press and Author.  The contest closes in December 2025 and we will choose 1-3 books to publish. Please send your manuscript through Submittable with your name and title page in 12 Times New Roman with a brief bio and work description. Author reserves all rights to the work and the pieces can be simultaneously published elsewhere but not in book form. Tofu Ink Arts Press 2024 Visionary Arts Poetry Prize In Honor of Reza Abdoh for Contracted Publication

Visionary Arts Poetry Prize: The final visionary winning poem will receive a publishing contract and publication of a Chapbook 20-40 pages.

“Reza Abdoh (1963-1995) was an Iranian-born American theatre director and playwright known for his groundbreaking, experimental productions. Abdoh died of AIDS in 1995 at the age of 32, having created an impressive body of stage spectacles known for their sensory overload, ferocious energy and hallucinatory dreamscapes. Abdoh was an enigmatic and prolific creative force and with his company, Dar A Luz, formed in 1991, he created productions that have made a major impact on experimental theatre worldwide and whose influences are still being felt and talked about to this day.”

Tofu Ink Arts Press Prize: In Honor of Reza Abdoh: Visionary Arts Poetry Prize, in honor of Theatrical Visionary, Reza Abdoh, aims at publishing a visionary poem of un humdrum’d rhizomatic errant possibilities. We are looking for a polished poem that is absorbed in possibilities.  Art makes you think about thinking...PLEASE MAKE US THINK!  Send us your best rhizomatic visionary piece with a bio and we will feature you as our contest winner in our Winter Edition and you will be nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Please submit on Submittable.  The final visionary winning poem will receive a publishing contract and publication of a Chapbook 20-40 pages.  Up to two additional visionary poems may be awarded "Honorable Mention" status and will also be featured on Tofu Ink. Poems will be considered for publication in Tofu Ink, regardless of whether they place in the contest.

You can only enter one poem no longer than three pages. and it must be submitted as .doc, .docx, with your name, title, 12 Font Times New Roman & single spaced.  Only poems which have not been previously published in any form are eligible for consideration. Multiple entries are permissible, however, each entry require a separate fee. All entry fees are non-refundable.  No further edits will be allowed to poems once they have been submitted.  No Translations please of others’ work.  Only poems submitted with an awards fee will be eligible for prize consideration. The contest winner will be announced before November 2024.

Agreement to Official Rules

SUBMIT ONLY ONE PIECE

Participation in the Art Competition constitutes entrants full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules.  Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.

Eligibility

Tofu Ink Arts Press Art Prize is open to all Artists internationally.

* Acceptable media would include almost anything like: mixed media, sculpture, oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, pencil, pen, photography etc.

a. Art Calls are open to all Amateur and Professional artists.

b. 2D and 3D work are eligible.

c. Each file submitted must be in a jpeg format.

e. You may enter works of art which have won awards in other Art Competitions.

f. Your art must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material and you may only submit your own artwork that you, personally created.

Art Competition Period

Submit to the online Submittable website only.  All entries must be in by December 31, 2023.

Image Preparation

Prepare your images as required before beginning the submission process. Submissions are only accepted via the online process.

Digital image files: JPG files only.

Tofu Ink may crop your winning images for formatting purposes for use in their slideshow presentations, other off-site slideshows, YouTube presentations, other Online presentations and for other areas of the website if your images are chosen.

The sizing and labeling of your images are very important. Label your image files in the following manner: first and last name, image name, the medium used, size, year created. Here is an Example: JohnBrown_Midnight_Photography_8x10_2017.

Winner Notification

Winner announced January 2024.

Award

Winner will receive their own print book of less than 48 pages published by Tofu Ink Arts Press with 50% of royalty sales going to the artist.  The winner will be featured on Tofu Ink Arts Press, will appear in their store and will be included on IngramSpark’s publishing list for book stores to sell, along with being featured on Amazon and Kindle.  The winner will also receive 10 free books of their publication. Winner will work along with Tofu Ink Arts Press during the editing process and will have final proof decisions. The Artist shall maintain all copyrights of any images that are submitted.

Criteria for Judging

Based on the artwork submitted to our competitions, they will be judged based on the following elements of artistic expression:

1. Interpretation and the clarity

2. Creativity, uniqueness, and originality

3. Quality of artistic composition and overall design

4. Color and tone

5. Overall impression of the art. What is the effect of the artwork in general and as a whole?

6. Overall, does the artwork stand on its own as a complete and outstanding work of art? Does it make us think about our thinking?
